Annapurna - 8,000-meter (26,200 ft)
Think your job is tough? Think again!
I’m reading Ed Viesturs’ “No Shortcut to the Top.” Viesturs is the first American to climb all of the world’s 8000 meter peaks (there are 14 of them).
In his book, he talks about how Annapurna, the 10th highest mountain in the world is considered to be the hardest and most dangerous mountain to climb.
Get this…
When you compare the number of climbers who successfully reach the summit to the number who die on an 8000 meter mountain, here are the stats:
Mt. Everest - For every 7 who summit, 1 person dies trying.
K2 - For ever 3 who summit, 1 person dies trying.
Annapurna - For every 2 who summit, 1 person dies trying.
I think I’ll stick with luge!
