Making a Diference Through Your Work

“No More Mondays” by Dan Miller

Here are some great thoughts from Dan Miller’s book “No More Mondays.”

- We are responsible to spend our working hours in work that will elevate us to our highest calling and transform the world around us.

- Fulfilling work is work that integrates our talents and our passions, work done for a worthy purpose.

- The key to success is knowing yourself so completely that you can identify a work fit that you will find enjoyable, rewarding, and profitable.

- The only things that get rewarded in today’s workplace are results.

- Doing work that is seen as noble, humanitarian, or altruistic can be damaging if it is not an authentic fit for you.

- If you try to do something noble that has no connection to who you are, you may impress others for a while. But if you are not embracing your unique abilities, you soon find yourself drained both emotionally and physically. You may do more damage than good. When you try to do something that is unconnected to your talents, your interests, and your values, you can expend all the energy in the world and still feel unsatisfied.

- If you are doing things the same way as you were even one year ago, you are probably being left behind. Such is the speed of change in the workplace today.

- Your work must interate your skills, your personality, and your interests.

- If your current daily actions are not moving you toward your goals, then you are probably moving away from your goals. Our daily actions are never neutral.

- The key to success is to be true to who you really are and to do something that you love.
